About Us
_PhiNix Dance Crew was formed in 2009 with the hope of building a hip hop presence at the University of Chicago and its neighboring areas. Our goal is to foster an environment where dancers
can express their creative talents, appreciate the art of dance, and
form new friendships. Since then, the group has expanded considerably in
size and now maintains two sub-groups: the Choreography Crew and the
Freestyle Crew. We are always open for booking on campus throughout the year for performances and workshops/classes. We dance to inspire and inspire to dance.

PHINIX PRESENTS REVIVAL: HEROES AND VILLAINS
Our fourth annual showcase is coming up soon! Mark your calendars for Friday, April 24th at 7pm! There will be an OPEN ALL STYLES BATTLE as well as performances from PHINIX CHOREO, PHINIX FREESTYLE, Northwestern's REFRESH, Loyola's KAPWA MODERN, UChicago MAYA, FIA MODERN and more! PhiNix welcomes you to the 2013-2014 academic year! We're super excited to meet all of you who are interested in dancing and joining us, and perform for all of you who just like to watch people dance! Some very important dates to remember:
CHIPOTLE STUDY BREAK @ HUTCH ON MONDAY OCTOBER 7TH FROM 830-10PM
Come watch us perform while chowing down on free Chipotle burritos (you know you want them!) We'll also be explaining more about our crew and how to become a part of the family!
AUDITIONS FALL 2013
We'll be holding auditions for freestyle & choreography crew on Tuesday, October 15th from 5-7pm in Ida Noyes and Sunday, October 20th from 7-9pm in BARS.
WORKSHOPS
PhiNIx holds weekly fundamentals workshops every Saturday (starting 10/12!) in BARS from 5-7pm. These classes are open to everyone, so if you are completely new at dance, we'll teach you the basics to become awesome, and if you already have some experience, just come to learn more! THEY'RE REALLY FUN WE PROMISE :)

We just had elections and have voted in our executive board for 2013-2014-- congratulations to Charlie Sun, Julia Bodson, John Lim, James Austen, Joone Choi, Aaron Deng and Emily Bishop for being the best candidates for the job. We're super excited to see what directions our new leadership takes us in next year! However, the current year isn't over just yet. We still have a couple awesome SATURDAY WORKSHOPS that you should attend, since they will be fantastic. Summer time, after all, is the best time to dance. (Wait, just kidding, every time is the best time to dance!)

Thank you so much to everyone who came out for our show! It was fantasticalwonderfulamazing to see all the crews come together and perform and to see the audience show so much support and love for dance!
Now we have more news!!! This weekend, PhiNix is hosting a Rot10 Workshop featuring Austin Lim and Andrew Phan of the Puzzle League (winners of WOD Chicago 2012) who will be teaching class and it will be awesome so definitely come out for that! Also if you didn't know, Poreotics is going to be on campus on May 10th as part of PanAsia's Spring Festival and PhiNix will be performing along with Poreotics (not together, but we wish~) so if you want to see a group of really good dancers (and also Poreotics... JUST KIDDING<3), be sure to keep track of that event as well!
